MBBS Admission Process in the Philippines

In the Philippines, MBBS is a BS+ MD degree programme. The first 1.5 to 2 years is a foundation course which is named as Bachelor of Science (BS) programme and the next 4 years is the Doctor of Medicine (MD) programme of 4 years followed by 1-year internship.

Students who wish to study MBBS in the Philippines must know that they are not directly enrolled in MBBS/ MD courses at a medical college. Students are initially enrolled in a Pre Medical BS programme. The BS programme lasts for 1.5 to 2 years. The general eligibility criteria to get enrolled in Pre Medical BS programme is as follow:

  • Must have passed Class 12th from a recognised board with Biology as the main subject
  • Must have scored an aggregate of at least 50 % marks in PCB
  • Must have qualified NEET UG entrance exam

Eligibility Criteria to enter the MD programme in the Philippines

  • Must successfully complete the BS degree programme
  • The National Medical Admission Test (NMAT). It is a national level exam to finally get enrolled in an MBBS/ MD programme at a Philippines Medical college.
  • A percentile above 50 is required to pass NMAT in top medical colleges in the Philippines
